Recipe Diary

Terms of Use

The agreement between you and Recipe Diary.
Last updated 11 July 2026

Overview

The short version

  • Recipe Diary is licensed to you for your own personal, non-commercial use.
  • Recipes and photos you add or import are yours and stay on your device - we don’t claim them.
  • When you import a recipe from a website or photo, it stays the property of its original source; you’re responsible for using it lawfully and for your own use.
  • The app is provided as is - always check ingredients and allergens yourself.

These terms are the full agreement. Please read them - using the app means you accept them.

Section 1

Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Thomas Ambrose (“we”, “us”), the maker of the Recipe Diary app (“the app”). By downloading or using the app, you confirm that you accept these Terms and that you are old enough to enter into this agreement where you live. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

Section 2

Your licence to use the app

The app is licensed, not sold, to you. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Recipe Diary on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.

You may not sell, rent, sub-license or redistribute the app, and you may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or attempt to extract its source code except to the limited extent the law allows.

Section 3

What the app does

Recipe Diary helps you store recipes, plan meals and build shopping lists. Your content is kept on your device; there is no account, and we don’t hold your recipes on our servers. Because your data lives on your device, keeping a device backup is the best way to protect it - see our Privacy Policy for detail.

Section 4

Your recipes and content

Anything you create or add - your own recipes, notes and photos - belongs to you. We don’t claim ownership of it, and since it stays on your device, we have no access to it. You are responsible for the content you add and for keeping your own copies.

Section 5

Importing recipes from other sources

Recipe Diary lets you bring in a recipe by sharing a web link or by scanning a photo. This is a personal tool for saving recipes for your own use, in the same way you might clip a page into a notes app or copy a recipe into a notebook.

Recipes, images and other material you import remain the property of their original authors or the websites they came from. By importing, you confirm that:

You are responsible for how you use content you import.

Section 6

Acceptable use

When using Recipe Diary you agree not to:

Section 7

Our intellectual property

The app itself - its software, name, logo, design and original content - belongs to us and is protected by law. These Terms don’t give you any ownership of it, only the limited licence described above. “Recipe Diary” and our logo may not be used without our permission.

Section 8

Copyright concerns and takedown

We respect intellectual property and ask our users to do the same. If you own rights in a recipe or other material and believe the app’s import feature is being used to infringe them, contact us at recipediary@ambrosecloud.com with enough detail to identify the material and your rights in it, and we will respond appropriately.

Please note that recipes saved by a user are stored privately on that person’s own device and are not published or shared by us, so in most cases there is no copy for us to remove; where a valid concern relates to how the import feature works, we will act on it.

Section 9

Purchases and subscriptions

Recipe Diary is available as a one-time purchase through the Apple App Store. The price is set by us and shown on the App Store listing, and is charged once at the time of purchase - there are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or in-app purchases. Your payment is processed by Apple under its own payment terms, and any refund requests are handled by Apple according to its refund policies, not by us.

Section 10

Third-party websites and content

When you import from a link, the app connects to a website chosen by you. We don’t control those sites, aren’t responsible for their content or accuracy, and their own terms and privacy policies apply to them.

Section 11

Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We don’t promise the app will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted.

Recipe content - especially recipes read automatically from a link or photo - may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always check ingredients, quantities, cooking steps and allergen information yourself before cooking or eating. We are not responsible for reliance on recipe content in the app. Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

Section 12

Limitation of liability and indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Keeping a backup of your device is the best protection against data loss.

You agree to cover us for reasonable claims, losses or costs that arise from your misuse of the app, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of someone else’s rights - for example through the content you import or add.

Section 13

Apple App Store

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability, legal, regulatory or intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a relevant embargo and are not on a prohibited-parties list, and you agree to comply with the App Store Terms of Service.

Section 14

Changes, ending access, and governing law

Changes

We may update the app and these Terms from time to time. When we change these Terms we’ll update the date at the top, and continuing to use the app means you accept the update.

Ending access

You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it, which also removes its data from your device. We may suspend or end your licence if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections you have where you live.
